Neeraj Ghevan’s much awaited second feature film Hombound at the 78th Cannes Film Festival led to the World Premier at the Unit Regard section and the audience played applause after standing for nine minutes after watching it. The screening took place at the debut theater and Ghevan was accompanied by the lead actors Ishaan Khattar, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor. The team also included producer Karan Johar and his Dharma Productions companions Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra.
The first review of the homebound is now revealed, and the film has been highly praised, especially its emotional depth and its leading men. The variety appreciated the work of both Ishaan and Vishal, noted his “very cute and unexpected acting”.

There was a glorious moment on the global stage for Indian cinema, when Neeraj Ghevan’s ‘Homebound’ was premiered in the prestigious Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. Standing applause for 9 minutes, the film with the lead roles of Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khattar and Vishal Jethwa was appreciated by standing with international audiences for 9 minutes. It was the only Indian feature film to be released in the 2025 edition, making it a historical opportunity.
Dharma Productions shared an inside video of Cannes 2025 after a homebound screening, in which the audience was seen clapping loudly while congratulating the film’s team. Ishaan and Karan were seen expressing gratitude with folded hands, while Karan and Neeraj were seen getting emotional and hugged. Dharma wrote on his post, “9 minutes of pure love and applause! Homebound team is getting everyone’s appreciation in @festralDecannes!”

Along with Karan Johar, homebound is also built by Adar Poonawala, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra. The project stars Marizke D’Souza and Melita Torskan Do Plantar co-producers. The veteran Hollywood filmmaker Martin is also an executive producer of Scorscie Homebound. The story of Homebound revolves around two friends from North Indian village. They are determined to do a police job, the respect they want, but their friendship goes through difficulties as frustration in this discovery.
