The country will be free from Naxalism by March 2026… Amit Shah said on the killing of 27 dreaded Naxalites in Chhattisgarh

CPI (Maoist) general secretary Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavraju was killed in an encounter in Abujhmad forest on Wednesday. Police said Basavaraju was among the 27 Maoists killed in an encounter with security forces in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Wednesday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Basavaraju was the backbone of the Maoist movement. Shah wrote on X that a historical achievement in the fight to end Naxalism. Today, in an operation in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, our security forces have killed 27 dreaded Maoists, including CPI-Maoist general secretary, top leader and Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju, the spine of the Naxalite movement.

Shah further wrote that this is the first time in three decades of India’s fight against Naxalism that a general secretary leader has been killed by our forces. I appreciate our brave security forces and agencies for this big success. Giving detailed information, he said that after the completion of Operation Black Forest, 54 Naxalites have been arrested in Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Maharashtra and 84 Naxalites have surrendered.

Shah said, “The Modi government is committed to ending Naxalism before 31 March 2026.” State Home Minister Vijay Sharma said, “Operation has been going on for the last 72 hours. More than 26 Maoists were killed in the encounter on Wednesday.” 71 -year -old Basavaraju was appointed as the new general secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) banned in 2018. Basavaraju, the veteran of the Maoist movement since the 1970s, is one of the most elusive Maoist leaders in the country and has a reward of Rs 1.5 crore on his head. The native of Jiannnapeta village in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, BTech is a BTech graduate from Basavaraju Warangal’s Regional Engineering College. Over the years, he has used several surnames including Ganganna, Prakash, Krishna, Vijay, Darapu Narasimha Reddy and Narasimha.
