The 82 km long corridor, known as Namo Bharat Corridor, is being implemented as a high-speed regional connectivity project by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). An NCRTC official said that 55 km part of 11 stations from the total length is already operational, while the remaining 27 km stake is running fast.
The RRTS Corridor starts from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi and ends in Modipuram in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Of the total section, 55 km is already on with 11 stations. The remaining 27 km work is in its final stages. “This is a big step for a regional trip,” said an NCRTC official. “People will be able to reach Meerut from Delhi in just 45 minutes by the end of June.”

The project aims to provide quick, easy and modern transport for thousands of daily travelers between the two cities. It is designed to reduce travel time, make traffic easier and improve overall traffic experiences. Since the launch in October 2023, the corridor is being expanded to the stages. The section between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar started in January this year. Now, testing is going on on two incomplete sections – one between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar, and the other from Meerut South to Modipuram.
The Sarai Kale Khan station is almost ready, with 12 escalators, four lifts, platform screen doors and five entry and exit points. The last section in Meerut consists of three new stations: Shatabdi Nagar (Elevated), Begumpul (underground and in the busy market area of the city), and Modipuram (the terminal station near the highway, which has a foot over bridge).

For the first time in India, Meerut Metro will also use the same track as RRTS trains. The 23 km long metro line has 13 stations, three of which are underground. More than one crore people have already traveled in the current parts of Namo Bharat trains. With a better last mile travel and partnership for concessional fare, the journey is not only fast but also more economical.
