The Maharashtra and Goa Vidyagya Parishad on Tuesday demanded action against the officers convicted for the defaults in the protocol during the visit of BR Gawai of India (CJI) BR Gawai.

The CJI arrived in Mumbai on May 18 as part of his first visit after taking oath as Chief Justice. A resolution was passed by the Law Council (Bar Council) in Mumbai in this regard, while in a Supreme Court release, Chief Justice Gawai was quoted on Tuesday as saying that the “minor issues” of the protocol lapse during his visit to Mumbai on May 18 should not be exaggerated and the case should be given a “break”.

A release issued by the Supreme Court on Tuesday said that all the concerned persons have expressed regret. The Bar Council, in its resolution passed on Tuesday, strongly condemned the acts of the concerned officials who did not welcome the CJI at the Mumbai airport as per protocol. The proposal states, “Appropriate action should be taken against the officers guilty for not giving respect to the Chief Justice of India.
