Actor Sunil Shetty has been in the industry for the last three decades. The actor has many excellent films, including JP Dutta’s border. He received a lot of love and praise for his character in this war based film, but there was a time when Sunil refused to do the border film. Recently, in a conversation with Radio Nasha, the actor told how he refused to the film due to the evil nature of director JP Dutta. However, he later became good friends of the director.

Sunil Shetty explained why he initially turned down the border
When asked why he initially turned down the role of Bhairav Singh in the border, but later accepted it, Sunil said, “I rejected the role because I had heard that JP Dutta was a very strict director, and if he was upset, he used to give abuses. I myself was very angry. When JP ji came to meet me, I will talk to him, I will talk to him.” Then I told my secretary, ‘I will not be able to do this, because if he abuses, I will raise my hand’.

Then he remembered how the filmmaker celebrated him to play this role, “I don’t like to spoil the relationship with anyone, so I thought, forget it. But JP ji was so adamant to cast me so much that he contacted Bharat Shah, who knew my mother-in-law. So, through my mother-in-law, through my mother-in-law, the film came back to me. They sat down to me and I told me to do the film, I told me that I am a condition that is there, So I will get out. ” Sunil further said that from day one, he and the filmmaker “got mixed up like fire”, and expressed their deep affection for him, remembering that even in his worst phase, JP Dutta always cast him in films without any other idea.
About the border
J.P. Directed and written by Dutta was based on the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 and had many best artists like Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry and Puneet Issar. The film is one of the most famous war drama films of Hindi cinema and is the foundation stone of Sunil Shetty’s filmography. Border Dutta had a dream project, which became an all-time blockbuster. Now work is going on on Border 2, which stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahaan Shetty in the lead roles. However, if the reports are to be believed, Diljit has opted out of this project. The film, directed by Anurag Singh and supported by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, is scheduled to release in theaters on 23 January 2026.
