Veteran actress Simi Grewal is fully prepared to make her debut at the Cannes Film Festival, where she will attend the screening of the 4K restored edition of Satyajit Ray’s 1970 classic ‘Aranyer Din Raat’.The 77 -year -old actress, who played the role of tribal Santhal girl Duli in the Bengali film, will attend the screening on May 19 under the Cannes Classics section.
This is the first time Grewal is going to attend the Cannes Film Festival. ‘Aranyer Dinratri’ is preserved in the ‘4 of 4 of 4 of 4, through which a film, or any other media content is preserved in 4K resolution. Grewal played a tribal Santhal girl Duli in this Bengali film of Ray. Grewal will attend the program organized under the ‘Cannes Classics’ category on 19 May.

The actress, known for films like ‘Karj’, ‘Chalte Chalte’ and ‘Mera Naam Joker’, shared a video on her ‘Instagram’ handle on Monday, in which she can be seen choosing her dress for the event. Grewal (77), Karan Berry and Leon Vaz will dress with ‘Carlio’.
He wrote in the caption, “So I have finally decided who will design my dress for ‘red carpet’ in ear !! This is on May 19, when we will showcase my film ‘Aranyar Dinratri’ with Re, which has been restored by Wes Anderson, Martin Scorses and Heritage Foundation. I like her aesthetics … so I have chosen Carlio Fashion. ”

‘Aranyar Dinratri’ has been presented and reinforced by the Film Foundation World Cinema Project in the film Foundation World Cinema Project in Italy ‘Lymezin Ritrovata’. A press release issued by the organizers of the festival stated that the fund was provided by the ‘Golden Globe Foundation’ for this. The film, based on the novel of the same name by writer Sunil Gangopadhyay, has also acted by actors like Saumitra Chatterjee, Shubhendu Chatterjee, Samit Bharja, Robi Ghosh, Aparna Sen and Sharmila Tagore.
The film is titled ‘Days and Nights in the Forest’ in English. Apart from Grewal, producer Purnima Dutta, Tagore, Margaret Bode, Executive Director of ‘The Film Foundation’ and FHF founder Shivendra Singh Dungarpur will also attend the ‘Aranyer Dinratri’ screening. The premiere of ‘Aranyer Dinratri’ will be presented by Hollywood’s famous filmmaker Wes Anderson, who is a long fan of Ray. The 78th Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to begin on Tuesday (May 13).
