Police said the deceased have been identified as Manmohan Kamat (63) and Dinesh (12). According to Meeo Layout Police, Kamat lived in Madhuvan apartment in NS Palya near BTM Second Stage and tried to use a motorized pump to drain water from his house on Monday evening.
A police officer involved in the investigation of the incident said, “When he connected the pump to the socket, he became a short circuit and he died due to current.” Police said that in the meantime, Dinesh, son of a Nepali man working in the apartment premises, died due to current. Dinesh stood near Kamat at the time of the incident. On being taken to the hospital, the doctors declared both dead.
Police said that reports of unnatural death (UDR) would be filed in both cases. So far three people have died in the earlier monsoon rains in the city. Earlier on Monday, a woman named Sasikala (35) died after the wall of a building collapsed under Mahadevpura police station.
