Jagdambika Pal said. The Waqf Board is a legal body, not a religious body.
BJP MP and JPC President Jagdambika Pal said on Tuesday that the government is amending the Waqf Board for widespread interests.
He also alleged that AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is trying to mislead the country.
Pal said, “If this government is amending the Waqf, it is only for goodness. The Waqf Board is a statutory body, not the religious body.
The Modi government introduced the Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha on 8 August. After which the Waqf Board has been opposing it.
There was a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on 17 March
Jagdambika Pal said that JPC had called the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, but even then they protested at Jantar Mantar. The bill will be only for their own interest, it is an attempt to mislead the Muslims and minorities of the country.
After the protest in Delhi, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) office secretary Mohammad Waqar Uddin Latifi issued a notice on March 23 and announced a nationwide agitation against the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill.
There will be a demonstration in Patna on 26th and 29 in Vijayawada
In the first phase of the movement, there will be a massive protest in front of the assemblies in Patna on 26 March and on March 29 in Vijayawada. The central leadership team of AIMPLB, national and provincial representatives of various religious and social organizations will participate in these strikes.
Also, the civil society, prominent representatives of minority communities and leaders of Dalit, Adivasi and OBC classes will also participate in these movements.
Support from the bill to convey through performance – Dr. Ilyas
Spokesperson Dr. Ilyas said that through both these dharna, BJP’s allies have to give a clear message, either they should withdraw their support from this bill, or be deprived of our support. According to Dr. Ilyas, the Muslim Personal Law Board has prepared a phased plan for this movement.
Under this, there will be a protest program in the capital of every state of the country. Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Punjab and Ranchi will have large -scale public meetings. Along with this, sit-in strikes and human chains will also be made.
Earlier, Ilyas had claimed that the aim of the government is to create a division between Hindus and Muslims and incite unrest in the country.
At the same time, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Monday that protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill across the country are understood as only a particular religion is being targeted. Charitable activities are attached to all religions and Muslims do these activities through Waqf. When a particular religion is targeted, stress arises. “
Owaisi said- gave 655 pages to read in one night, how is this possible
On 27 January, 44 amendments were discussed in the JPC meeting on the Waqf Amendment Act. 14 amendments of NDA MPs led by the BJP were accepted, while the opposition’s amendments were rejected outright.
Opposition MPs involved in the committee objected to this bill. AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, “We received a 655 -page draft report last night.” It is impossible to read the 655-page report overnight. I have disagreed and will oppose this bill in Parliament as well.
Report to be presented in budget session, starts from April 4
The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) will submit its report on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill during the budget session. The budget session of Parliament will start from 31 January and run till 4 April.
The aim of Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 is to solve these challenges by bringing improvements in legal systems to withdraw digitization, better transparency and illegal occupied assets.
The Waqf Act of 1995 enacted to regulate Waqf properties has been criticized for issues like long mismanagement, corruption and encroachment.
The first meeting was held on August 22, 2024
Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced the Waqf Bill in the Lok Sabha on 8 August 2024. Opposition parties, including the Congress and the Samajwadi Party, opposed this bill and described it as anti -Muslim.
The bill was sent to JPC without any discussion in the Lok Sabha amidst the objection of the opposition and heavy opposition. The first meeting of the 31 -member JPC on the Waqf Bill Amendment was held on 22 August. 44 amendments were to be discussed in the bill.
