7th Pay Commission: Before the budget is presented on February 1, government employees have high expectations from it. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present it in Parliament. This is the last budget of the second term of the Modi government. Apart from the government employees, it is expected to be very special for the common people as well. After the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, the salary of the people had increased due to the fitment factor. After 2016, it is expected to increase once again. Employees unions have demanded to increase DA and TA many times.

What is fitment factor?

To decide the basic salary of central employees, many factors are taken into consideration. These include traveling allowance (TA), dearness allowance (DA) and house rent and fitment factor. According to the 7th Pay Commission, in 2016, there was an increase of about 2.57 times in the salary of the employees. This time i.e. in the 2023 budget, it is expected to increase to around 3.68. According to the data released by AICPI, there is an increase in dearness allowance twice a year. These include the months of January and July.

Minimum salary is expected to increase due to fitment factor

After increasing the fitment factor from 2.57 to 3.68, the minimum salary of people is likely to increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000. When the 7th Pay Commission was implemented in the year 2016, the basic salary of the people was only Rs.6000. To increase the salary, multiply it by the fitment factor. Central employees have mainly 3 demands in this year’s budget. These include increase in DA, arrears of DA payment for the last 18 months and increase in fitment factor from 2.57 to 3.68.

Those doing government jobs will be benefited like this

Due to the outstanding DA payment of the last 18 months, people doing government jobs can be benefited. For this, the government can give a middle way or all the outstanding amount together. With this, about Rs 2.18 lakh is likely to go into the accounts of the employees. Apart from this, due to increase in the fitment factor, the basic salary will increase. Dearness Allowance ie DA is likely to be 38 to 41 percent. The last time it was increased by 4% in September 2022.
