On Constitution Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the makers of the Indian Constitution, emphasizing the importance of their vision and civic duties. Prime Minister Modi said that the Constitution gives us rights. It also reminds us that we have certain duties as citizens. We should always try to fulfill those duties’.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged citizens to fulfill their constitutional duties and said these are the foundation of a strong democracy. In a letter addressed to citizens on Constitution Day, the Prime Minister also stressed the responsibility of strengthening democracy by exercising the franchise and suggested that schools and colleges celebrate Constitution Day by honoring those who become voters for the first time after completing 18 years of age.

PM Modi recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s idea that rights are achieved only by the discharge of duties. He emphasized that discharge of duties is the basis of social and economic progress. He also emphasized that policies and decisions taken today will shape the lives of future generations. The Prime Minister urged the citizens to keep their duties paramount while moving towards the goal of ‘Developed India’.

Modi wrote in a separate post on ‘X’, “Our Constitution gives supreme importance to human dignity, equality and freedom. It empowers us with rights, while also reminding us of our duties as citizens, which we should always try to fulfill. These duties are the foundation of a strong democracy.” He also paid tribute to the framers of the Constitution and said, ”Their vision continues to inspire us to build a developed India.
