52 artists announced for Bihar Arts Award, honor ceremony will be held on 24 September

The Department of Arts, Culture and Youth has announced the Bihar Kala Award Scheme. Under this scheme, 52 artists of exhibition art and painting will be honored. It also includes the National and Life Time Achievement Awards. The selected artists will get a total of 27 lakh 47 thousand rupees. The state has been selected to give life time achievement awards of 22 established, 18 budding, 6 national and 6 artists.

17 artists have been selected for the year 2022-23. These include 6 established, 7 budding, 2 national and 2 Life Time Achievement Awards. There are also 17 artists for the year 2023-24. This includes 8 established, 5 debut, 2 national and 2 life time achievements. Similarly, 18 artists have been selected for the year 2024-25, including 8 established, 5 debut, 2 national and 2 life time achievements.

Honor ceremony will be held on 24 September: Minister

Motilal Prasad, Minister of Arts, Culture and Youth Department, said that the selection of artists was pending for a long time. Now the honor of three years has been announced. There will be an honor ceremony on 24 September, whose information will be shared soon.

Department Secretary Pranab Kumar said that more than 150 applications were received under the scheme in three years. Out of these excellent artists have been selected. He further informed that applications have been taken by August 31 under the Guru-Shishya tradition scheme, the date of application can be extended in the coming days.

Names of selected artists

The National Award for the year 2022-23 Chitra Prasad, Padmashri Madhubani artist Dulari Devi will be received, while Anil Bihari, Suman Kumar has been announced for life time achievement. In the year 2023-24, National Award will be given to singer Kalpana Patwari, Padmashree Baua Devi and Life Time Achievement to Padmashree Nirmala Devi, Bhojpuri folk singer Bharat Singh Bharti. The National Award for the year 2024-25 will be given to Ratneshwar Prasad, Ashok Kumar Vishwas and Life Time Achievement Artist Shivan Paswan, singer Bharat Sharma Vyas.

Artists will get 1-1 lakh rupees

The department is honoring outstanding artists since the year 2011-12. The scheme includes state, national and international level artists. Established and budding artists will be given prizes, souvenirs with honor amount, Momento, Certificate and Angavastra. It has been announced to give the established artist Rs 51,000, the budding Rs 25,000, Rs 1 lakh per artist for national and life time achievement.
