The Delhi government has earned Rs 5,068.92 crore from tax on liquor in the current financial year, while milk and dairy products have received only Rs 209.9 crore. This information was given by the government on the question of BJP MLA Abhay Verma in the assembly.
According to the state government, 21.27 crore liters of liquor sold in 2023-24 in Delhi, ie about 5.82 lakh liters every day. The figure was 25.84 crore liters in 2022-23.
The AAP government implemented a new liquor policy in November 2021, which was limited to the sale of liquor only to private shops. But in September 2022, government liquor shops were reopened after the old policy was re -enforced.


The first CAG report on liquor policy was presented in Delhi Assembly
CM Rekha Gupta presented the first CAG report on the Delhi liquor policy in the House on 25 February. The report revealed a loss of Rs 2002 crore due to AAP’s wrong liquor policy. According to this, the ‘special arrangements’ among some wholesalers and manufacturers in the liquor policy pose a threat to monopoly and brand promotion.
