The Bombay High Court on Monday refused to give interim relief to actor Dhruv Kumar, against whom an FIR is lodged at Amboli police station in Mumbai. Dhruv is the nephew of Karnataka actor-director Arjun Sarja. When Sarja’s lawyer requested the interim order not to take any punitive action by the police, Justice A.S. Gadkari and Justice Rajesh S. Patil’s bench said that first show your honesty, then we will decide. The bench directed Sarja to deposit Rs 3.10 crore, which has been the main reason for the dispute. Earlier this month, a case was registered on charges of fraud and criminal betrayal.

The complaint lodged by producer-director Raghavendra Hegde alleged that the actor cheated him Rs 3.10 crore in connection with a film project, which was never completed. With 18% interest from 2018, Hegde claimed that their total loss has now increased to more than Rs 9 crore. Sarja challenged the filing of FIR in a petition filed through advocates Ashima Mandla, Mandakini Singh, Mohammad Faiz and Aryan Kotwal. The petition stated that the 2018 transaction was to make a film and an agreement was signed in Bengaluru in 2019; However, there was no practical screenplay from Hegde.

Senior Advocate MS appeared through video conferencing Shyamsunder argued that an agreement was signed to make a film under which a script was sent much later in December 2023. However, since one such film had already been made, it was not viable. Later, on July 15, 2025, Hegde reportedly sent a message stating that the financers were threatening them about the amount paid to them.
