India has stopped the Indus Water Agreement after the Pahalgam terror attack, under which Chenab’s water has been stopped.

India has stopped Chenab’s water from Bagalihar Dam. After this, the water level of Chenab river in Sialkot, Pakistan has come down to 15 feet on Monday. This level is 7 feet less than Sunday.
More than 3 crore people in 24 important cities of Punjab may have to crave for drinking water after 4 days of Chenab’s continuous shrinking. 80% of the population of densely populated cities like Pakistan’s Faisalabad and Hafizabad depends on the superficial water of Chenab for drinking water.
Pakistan’s Indus Water Authority feared that India’s move would reduce water for kharif crops by 21%. The Pak Parliament has described it as an action to wage war.
The Chenab river has started drying up after stopping the water from the Bagihar dam.
Salal Dam gates were closed in Reasi district on Monday. At the same time, planning is going on to stop the water of Jhelum river through Kishanganga Dam in Kashmir.
India stopped 65 year old Indus Water Agreement
India has stopped the Indus Water Agreement after the Pahalgam terror attack. On 19 September 1960, there was a Indus Water Agreement to distribute water of 6 rivers between India and Pakistan. Under the agreement, India got the right to three Eastern rivers (Ravi, Beas and Sutlej), while Pakistan was given permission to use three western rivers (Indus, Jhelum and Chenab).
80% of Pakistan’s farming is dependent on the water of the Indus, Jhelum and Chenab rivers. Now the water crisis in Pakistan will deepen from India by stopping the water of these rivers. The economic condition there will deteriorate. Apart from this, Pakistan produces electricity from many dams and hydro projects. Lack of water can lead to a decline in power generation, which will affect economic and industrial activities.
Crafts rapid in Pahalgam, 180 suspected detained so far
Security agencies have intensified the criminals of the Pahalgam terror attack. So far, more than 2800 people have been interrogated and 180 suspects have been detained. Crackdown has been teased on those who wipe out terrorist network and shelters of terrorists.
Surveillance has been intensified on the orders of the Union Home Ministry. A senior police officer said that strictness is being done on those who shelters terrorists. Also, the investigation of trains in Kashmir region has been expedited. Intensive investigation is on at the night.
Action is being implemented by identifying the sleeper cell. Additional police forces have been deployed to protect tourists. 60 trekking routes and tourist destinations located in remote areas have been temporarily closed.
After the terrorist attack, tourists in Kashmir Valley have decreased by 85%.
