A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia on Wednesday convicted a man and sentenced him to 25 years of imprisonment for raping a minor girl for several months.
According to the prosecution, a resident of a village in Narhi police station area had filed a complaint on August 16, 2021, in which he had alleged that Gopal Patel of Daulatpur village of the police station area has been raping his 15-year-old daughter for the last several months by threatening to kill her.
The matter came to light when the girl gave birth to a dead baby girl. In this case, on the complaint of the girl’s father, a case was registered against Gopal under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. After investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against the accused in the court.
Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh said that after hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court of Special Judge Pratham Kant found the accused Gopal guilty and sentenced him to 25 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 26 thousand.
