24 houses, 40 acres of fields and gold and silver worth millions … Salary is only ₹ 15 thousand and 30 crores is the owner of 30 crores!

The Lokayukta officials raided the residence of Kalakappa Nidagundi, former clerk of Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) on Friday and revealed a unaccounted assets worth more than Rs 30 crore. 24 houses, four plots and 40 acres of agricultural land were found near Nidagundi, who was posted in Koppal and receiving a monthly salary of Rs 15,000. According to NDTV report, officials also seized four vehicles, 350 grams of gold and 1.5 kg of silver during the raid. These properties were registered in the name of Nidagundi, his wife and his brother -in -law.

Fraud allegations

Jade M M Chincholkar, former engineer of Nidagundi and Kridl, is accused of rigging more than Rs 72 crore. Both of them allegedly prepared fake documents for 96 incomplete infrastructure projects and rigged government money.

Action on corrupt officials

The Lokayukta has intensified its action against government officials on suspicion of possessing more assets from known sources of income. On Tuesday, the agency searched assets associated with five government employees in Hassan, Chikkallapura, Chitradurga and Bengaluru.

Earlier, on July 23, the Lokayukta teams raided 41 locations associated with eight government officials, including an IAS officer, in a case of disproportionate assets. The raids were killed in the districts of Bengaluru Urban, Mysore, Tumkuru, Kalburgi, Kopal and Kodagu and assets worth Rs 37.42 crore.
