Punjab Police has given a big blow to smugglers hiding in Pakistan. Punjab Police has recovered 12 kg of heroin sent across the border. Not only this, the Counter Intelligence (CI) team of Ferozepur has also succeeded in arresting two Indian smugglers. These smugglers were taking this consignment from across the border to a safe place.
Sharing this information, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that this operation was initiated after intelligence information. CI Ferozepur received a tip-off that two smugglers were bringing a consignment of heroin from across the border. CI Ferozepur laid a trap by planning. CI Ferozepur caught the two smugglers who were taking the consignment of heroin to a safe place in the dark of night.
Police collecting information about where the consignment was to go
The consignment was to be forwarded by Indian smugglers and the consignment was to reach Punjab and neighboring states. DGP Yadav said that the interrogation of the arrested smugglers has been started as to which Pakistani smuggler the consignment was received from and which Indian smugglers it was to reach next.
Governor on a visit to the border areas
Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit is also visiting the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking. Governor Purohit was in Ferozepur and Fazilka recently. He met the people of the local villages and asked for their support for the prevention of drugs.
During the operation conducted under the leadership of CI Ferozepur, 2 persons were arrested and 12 kg of heroin was recovered. An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act and an investigation is underway to establish backward and forward links.
